Schwarze Schneid, Sölden – 15km

gorgeous view over the mountain from a slope in Austria

Sölden is with no doubt one of the best ski regions in Austria. What makes the area so unique: the high altitude granted by the three ski mountains higher than 3,000 meters, the two glacier ski areas (Rettenbach Glacier and Tiefenbach Glacier), and the excellent 144 kilometers of ski slopes operated by 31 modern lifts and two modern gondolas.

First place on this top goes for the Schwarze Schneid slope, 15 kilometers long and the longest ski run in Austria. The descent takes its name from the 3,340-meter-high Schwarze Schneid mountain, one of the three-thousand-meter peaks in the Sölden ski area.

The 15 kilometer- ski run begins at the Schwarze Schneide Platform on the Rettenbach Glacier, at 3,340 meters. It ends down into the valley, at Gaislachkoglbahn, covering almost 2,000 meters altitude, which is quite incredible if you think. The longest ski run in Austria passes through the beautiful valley of Rettenbach, and the views are just stunning.

Before the descent, make sure to proceed to the skiing area’s highest point. Walk around 15 minutes, and you’ll find a viewing platform at the summit. The views over the valley and the surrounding mountains will astonish you!

TIP. Slope number 31 is the most challenging in the region, with a length of one kilometer only and an elevation difference of 300 meters, but definitely, a must while here.
